PROPOSALS

Proposals for individual presentations, sessions, panel discussions, lecture-recitals, and poster sessions are welcome on topics relevant to the Study Group’s research aims. Individual presentations will be limited to twenty minutes, with an additional few minutes allotted for questions, discussion, and set-up of computer and audio equipment. Panel discussions, group sessions, and lecture-recitals will be scheduled for longer time-slots.

SUBMISSIONS

Abstracts, comprising no more than 250 words, should be concise but thorough, clearly indicating the scope of the research, methodology, and conclusions. Please include the title of the proposal at the top of the page, followed by author’s name, institutional affiliation or indicate if one is an independent scholar, email address, and mailing address. Audio-visual equipment needs should be indicated after the abstract text (a PC computer, video projection, and sound equipment will be provided).

The Cantus Planus chair will collect all proposals and forward anonymous copies to the Advisory Board. Last-minute cancellations have caused considerable inconvenience at past Study Group meetings, so please understand that submission of an abstract denotes your availability and willingness to attend the entire 2026 meeting. Papers in IMS-approved languages, namely English, German, Italian, French, and Spanish, are invited.

ELECTRONIC SUBMISSION ONLY – To submit your abstract, please visit https://sge.uevora.pt/ and create an account (ensure that you select English as your preferred language). After confirming your email address, log in and search for “Cantus Planus 2026” under the List of Active Events. Click on “Register” (top right-hand corner), then select “Add submission” to upload your abstract.

NOTIFICATION of acceptance will be sent via email around 1 MARCH 2026. The recipients must confirm in the following days their willingness to attend the event.

PROGRAM PUBLICATION AND REGISTRATION OPENING: 1 APRIL 2026

REGISTRATION FEE: We anticipate a conference registration fee around EUR 200 per participant (excluding accommodation and breakfasts). This fee includes the half-day excursion, conference venue hire, coffee and tea breaks, lunches on the conference days (Friday, Saturday, and Monday), the conference dinner, and conference materials. The fee is all-inclusive; day-to-day registration will not be available.

The exact amount will be announced at a later date, and if circumstances allow, it will be set below EUR 200. We warmly welcome and encourage all Cantus Planus members to take part in the full Study Group meeting.

Lunches and coffee-breaks will be provided by a catering service near the conference location. The cost is included in the registration fee. The lunch on Sunday is free and is not included.

GRADUATE STUDENT SUBMISSIONS

In addition to the abstract and other requested information, graduate students submitting proposals should indicate in which graduate program they are currently enrolled. An email from an advisor or other faculty member verifying the student presenter’s status and endorsing the research topic and proposal should be sent to the Cantus Planus chair soon after the student’s abstract has been submitted, and before the CFP deadline.
